Okayama Castle is nicknamed the "Crow Castle" for its striking black exterior, completed in 1597 and rebuilt after the air raids of 1945. The castle overlooks the famous Korakuen Gardens, two large moats, and offers a 360 view of downtown Okayama. This lesser-known castle offers many interactive activities for visitors, including a pottery studio in the basement where you can practice making Bizen pottery!
If you’re looking for a place to enjoy seasonal beauty, distinct tea houses, and cranes, visit the three-century-old Korakuen Gardens. These gorgeous gardens surround the castle and are attached by a bridge perfect for pondering!
While visiting the Kurashiki Bikan Historical District, consider strolling through the area in a kimono, and treat yourself to some Okayama fruit parfait. The combination of old Japan and modern Europe makes this historic district a truly unforgettable experience.
